What do you do when you don't
want to wear your wig all the time, or you just don't like the idea of
wearing wigs at all. Here are some great alternatives.
One thing to keep in
mind is that we loose about 60% of our body heat through our head if
you don't have hair. You will probably get cold at night so you
need a sleep/slumber cap. Also, you MUST wear something over
your head while in the sun.
THINK OUT OF THE BOX. You need to build a headcovering wardrobe
just as you would build a clothing wardrobe. So start with something
basic, remember the 'little black dress.' A dress that you can
dress up with a sequined jacket or pearls for dinner or a big floppy
hat and black strappy sandles for a picnic. Our Linda's 3 Seam
is that 'little black dress'. Just look at the many ways it
can be worn; by itself as a sleep cap, for 'knock around' or tie a
scarf that matches your outfit for a more dressy look.
You don't have to go
out and spend a lot of money either. How many of your friends
have asked you, 'Is there anything I can do for you?'
Your answer is, 'YES, give me a hat / turban / scarf party.'
If there is no party in sight for you, rummage through your accessory
drawer; or your mother's or sister's or friend's drawers for
scarves, old belts, anything will work. Old fabric or string belts work beautifully tied
around a turban. Look for silk flower pins to pin to your hat.
Again, think out of the box.
